Four Wheeler Accessories & Gear

Four Wheeler Accessories and Gear Article from Joe's Cycle Shop

Four wheelers, also called ATVs or quads, are powerful workhorse machines that let you off-road for pleasure and haul or tow for work. You’ll find many uses for your four wheeler, whether you’re riding trails, hunting, doing work on the farm or towing equipment around a job site. Some of these tasks will require some accessories to help your four wheeler to function better. That’s why Joe's Cycle Shop has prepared this guide to four wheeler accessories and gear, so you can outfit your ATV however you see fit for whatever you’ll be doing with it. Our dealership is located in Bolivar, Tennessee, so if you have any questions about gear, come talk to us!

Winch

A winch is an invaluable piece of equipment that will serve you well no matter where you are. Four wheelers tackle difficult terrain which doesn’t always have the best traction. You can use a winch to help pull a fellow rider out of a ditch, drag your big game to flatter ground or move a log out of your path, among other uses. Make sure you get a mounting plate that fits correctly and check to see if you need a special bracket in order to install your winch.

Tow Strap

Sooner or later you’ll inevitably need to pull a compatriot’s quad out of a ditch. A winch can help with this, but what you may want to have in addition to that is a tow strap that’s specially made to help lug heavy payloads out of a tight spot. It’ll perform many of the same tasks as a winch, like hauling that deer or elk out of the underbrush or pulling a fallen tree out of the only path available.

Storage Compartments & Bags

Most quads come with some storage, but you’ll likely want more for all your safety gear and other necessities. An extra hardtop box will be sturdy enough for off-roading and protect your stuff well, and softer bags can be a lightweight but still useful option. You’ll then be able to carry extra clothes, food, water and supplies in case you’re camping or staying out for a long time. Storage containers will also protect your items from sun and rain damage.

LED Light Bars

Anyone riding a four wheeler before dawn or after dusk, like hunters, will benefit from installing LED light bars to provide brilliant illumination of the path ahead. These are relatively inexpensive and very bright. LEDs can be useful in dim forest conditions and during cloudy days, too. Lights will help you to see obstacles ahead and not be surprised by anything in your path. LEDs last a long time and don’t take up as much energy so you won’t wear down your battery using them.

GPS

Navigational tools are indispensable when you’re out off-roading far from the city. Paper maps are good if that’s all you have, but a GPS will help you pinpoint exactly where you are and how to get back to where you want to be when you’re lost. Having a separate GPS from your phone can be good because it leaves your phone charged up for emergency communication, and also you might not get very good service out in the boondocks or in the forest.
